Summary
“Lazarus” is a dystopian science fiction series that envisions a near-future world where nation-states have collapsed, and society is ruled by a handful of powerful families who control resources and people like feudal lords. Everyone outside the ruling class is divided into two categories: Serfs, who serve the families, and Waste, the vast majority with no rights. Each family employs a genetically and technologically enhanced warrior called a Lazarus to protect their interests. The story follows Forever Carlyle, the Lazarus of the Carlyle family, as she navigates loyalty, betrayal, and questions of identity. Forever is trained from birth to be a perfect soldier, utterly loyal to her family, but her increasing awareness of manipulation and deceit forces her to question her role. Around her, rival families plot wars, trade alliances, and espionage in a dangerous game of power. “Lazarus” blends corporate dystopia with political thriller, delivering a story about control, survival, and what it means to be human in a world where loyalty is manufactured. The series explores morality, family dynamics, and the blurred line between duty and self-awareness.
